Life Advancement Through Skill Enhancement (LASE™)

A Program for Young Adults with Developmental Challenges

Why LASETM is different

Students attending Life Advancement Through Skill Enhancement (LASE™) will experience opportunities to discover their abilities in a collaborative learning environment. It is a parental effort to provide a quality skill enhancement program for all young adults (ages 19 and up) with autism. The program is being offered by My Life Learning Center (MLLC), a 501c(3) dedicated to the training of young adults with disability to live their life to the fullest and on their own terms.

A typical day at LASETM will consist of skill development, in conjunction with planned activities.

Visits from experts will be arranged periodically to talk about their work and exchange information.

Overall, LASE™ will provide a safe learning environment where the students are free to express themselves, interact with their peers, and learn from their instructors and each other.

How LASE helps

It should be noted that LASE™ is not a job training program.  It is a skill enhancement program that determines the students’ aptitude and abilities so that the young adults can live life to their fullest and successfully apply said skills towards opportunities or further training programs. The objectives are:

  •  Develop and use social skills and appropriate communication skills;
  •  Improve upon reading, math, and other marketable job skills;
  • Learn about health and nutrition;
  •  Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of making good choices; and
  •  Build confidence through visits from successful professionals, such as artists, musicians, doctors, engineers, and small business owners.
